WETD Gets a New Home

WETD has moved to a fresh studio at Alfred State College’s new $33 million Student Leadership Center. Faculty adviser Mark Amman worked closely with architects, engineers and college administration for four years to get the station into a prime location on a 4th floor corner.
“Our main studio’s glass windows overlook the common space and a new cafe below, and out through the building’s glass walls onto the surrounding hills and village of Alfred, N.Y.,” said Rick Herritt, adviser to WETD 90.7 FM.
The tables and racks were custom built, handcrafted by Amman himself, designed to have the key equipment right where the DJ needs it, and the college’s IT department worked long hours to connect the right phone lines, servers and everything else to get the station connected, up and running, Herritt said.
“It’s amazing to see everyone looking up at the booth every time you go on-air,” Herritt said. “Certainly a fun place to DJ.”
The Student Leadership Center’s grand opening will be held at Alfred State’s Homecoming and Family Weekend, on Sept. 27. WETD is also celebrating their 40th year on air this year.
