CBI seeks Events Director

College Broadcasters, Inc. (CBI) seeks a part-time paid Events Director to coordinate the National Student Electronic Media Convention (askcbi.org/seattle) and other programming. The director will work remotely with occasional travel required throughout the year.

Alabama Community College Is Selling Radio Station License

The Gadsden Times reports Gadsden State Community College announced Monday that it’s selling the license for WSGN. The station was part of the school’s radio/television broadcasting program until 2004, when the program was discontinued.

Gadsden State President Martha Lavender says it’s no longer necessary for them to maintain a physical location or continue to accept responsibility for requirements and regulations from the Federal Communications Commission because the school isn’t offering courses in radio-television broadcasting.

KSYM 90.1 offers opportunities in broadcasting

“The program gave me the opportunity to learn a lot more about radio broadcasts and the production that goes into it,” Tommy Banks, assistant program director for campus radio station KSYM 90.1 FM, said Sept. 11.

He is a graduate of this college’s RTVB program.

“I definitely increased my knowledge and skills when it comes to working on the radio,” he said. “I went from listening to being the guy on the radio.”
