KSYM to host annual Alternative 2 Hunger concert, food drive

“We always want to give back to the community,” assistant KSYM program director Tommy Banks said Nov. 6. “We don’t only want to showcase local artists, but we also want to get the community together and encourage them to help those in need.”

Entry to the concert requires either five canned goods per person or $5, and one frozen turkey admits five people.

What We Can Learn from College Students

You can excite your staff by helping them improve their attitudes. Remember, the college students who attended the CBI conference are excited about what they’re doing, at the same time they are seeking ways to improve how they feel and function. In fact, they nodded in agreement when we described signs of depression and anxiety, and asked what they could do about it, how they could balance their lives and be happier.  My session provided validation and actual resources (websites, mental health apps, and blogs) they could access right away to begin improving their mindsets.

KXSF(LP) launches in San Francisco, reanimating the KUSF(FM) spirit

While KXSF volunteers, listeners and other interested parties nibbled on pizza and sipped wine, a videographer roamed about, bearing witness to the launch. Although it’s a brand-new LPFM radio station, the story of San Francisco Community Radio has attracted both local and national attention because of its connection to the former full-power college radio station KUSF.
