The University of Kentucky is looking for an outstanding individual to serve as a member of the Office of Student Involvement professional advisor team. The Student Media Advisor will serve as a professional advisor to the broadcast student media groups WRFL (radio) and Wildcat Student TV (television) and also assist in departmental technology initiatives to support student engagement. Specific responsibilities include:
• ADVISOR TO WRFL: Oversee and advise student‐run radio station in areas of FCC compliance, training,
event contracting, fiscal management, maintenance, and other related areas.
• ADVISOR TO WILDCAT STUDENT TV: Oversee and advise student‐run television station in areas of
training, video production, maintenance, programming, fiscal management, and other related areas.
• DEPARTMENT TECHNOLOGY: Assist in administering unit technology needs including computing,
communications (network, voice, data), and other IT services. Work with department marketing group
to coordinate and develop web, print, video and other marketing strategies.
• EVALUATION & ASSESSMENT: Develop and track program learning outcomes for broadcast student
media groups and assist student leaders in assessment of programs.
Minimum requirements for this position are a Masters Degree and one year of related experience or the
equivalent. Experience working with student‐led broadcast groups in a collegiate setting is preferred. Qualified
candidates must possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and oral and written
communication skills. Candidates must also have the ability to multi‐task and meet ongoing deadlines. The
ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of radio and television operation and production in addition to
experience working with students in a collegiate setting. The responsibilities of this position also require
competency with computer applications (Microsoft Office, Windows, and Mac OS required; Adobe Creative
Suite and Final Cut Studio preferred).
