JOB POSTING: MUSIC DIRECTOR AND CHIEF ANNOUNCER OF KRTU

Trinity University’s KRTU-FM, San Antonio, seeks a dynamic individual for the position of Music Director and Chief Announcer for a non-commercial, jazz and alternative student rock station.
Responsibilities: Responsible for supervising, scheduling and evaluating top quality, straight ahead jazz from 5 am to 10 pm. Works with the Associate General Manager for Programming and Operations and Operations Manager, to ensure music programming meets station standards, train program hosts, create original KRTU programming, review new releases, interact with industry representatives and cultivate listener-members. Hosts a weekday program and teaches a one hour practicum on radio hosting. Trinity University’s KRTU 91.7, a non-profit, listener supported radio station, is a resource of the Department of Communication that supports the academic curriculum while demonstrating Trinity University’s leadership in education and the arts.
Qualifications: Must have a college degree and extensive knowledge of straight ahead jazz from the early 1900s to the present. Must be able to help with the training, recruitment, and supervision of students and community volunteer announcers. Must have reliable transportation. Ideal candidate will have a background in jazz music and two or more years of radio experience.
Salary: Full-time, $30,000 to $35,000 per year.
