Four College Radio Stations offer showcase to feature local bands

According to this dailytarheel.com article, UNC-G’s WUAG, UNC-CH’s WXYC, Duke’s WXDU, and NCSU’s WKNC are working together to present a showcase of local bands.  What a great idea to promote local music and the college stations!

The FCC has long sought to require stations to do more to promote ‘localism’ and while this may not be exactly what the FCC has in mind, it is a great example of how college radio can make a difference in local market by promoting local artists, creating a sense of community and at the same time promoting the value of student radio.
