A note from Rob Quicke on College Radio Day 2013:

I am just heading out the door to fly to Colombia to meet the other World College Radio Day leaders – for the very first time. I am utterly exhausted, but this is important.

Briefly, I just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS on a fantastic College Radio Day / World College Radio Day. We had over 700 stations in 43 countries participate. It was truly a global celebration.

THANK YOU to everyone who participated and got involved! Thanks to CBI for your support!

In addition to all the excellent programming heard on your stations, I would like to make the following highlights that are good for all of us here in college radio:

•President Obama sent a letter to all stations stating: “Uniting audiences across languages and borders, World College Radio Day celebrates the students who power these stations and the unique role college radio plays across the globe. As you tune in on World College Radio Day 2013, I wish you all the best.”

•Wyclef Jean performed a surprise acoustic gig at William Paterson University in collaboration with mtvU and streamed worldwide on TuneIn radio app

•I interviewed Vice-President Biden on the phone at the studios of WPSC, who said that College Radio Day is “a pretty big deal…something really very good.”

•Moby and Andrew WK provided exclusive interviews for all College Radio Day participating stations to play on the air during the day.
