College Broadcasters, Inc. membership, events and programming are meant to be welcoming and open opportunities for sharing ideas from a wide variety of individual perspectives. Membership is inclusive and available for all student media organizations. Conventions and programs aim to be intellectually and personally safe environments free from harassment and discrimination based on any individual expression or status including but not limited to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, ability, race, ethnicity, marital status, religious beliefs and practices, political affiliation, veteran status and/or health conditions. This commitment and responsibility to report violations extends to all attendees, media representatives, exhibitors, sponsors, staff, volunteers, organizers, speakers and special guests.
CBI reserves the right to remove members or conference attendees, without refund of registration fees, at the discretion of the conference organizers and the Board of Directors, if there is a pattern of disrespectful, disruptive or abusive behavior in any CBI member forum, program or event. This includes harassment, stalking behavior, interference with any other member’s equitable rights to participate in programs, and bullying behaviors. Community members are welcome to bring their concerns to any Board of Directors member at any time, confidentially if desired.
CBI also commits to actively seek ways to bring in and support new and diverse voices and perspectives to the college media community in an equitable manner. Membership, leadership roles and involvement opportunities are available to all members.
We acknowledge that these goals are aspirational, but the commitment to being mindful and aware of our members’ unique perspectives and needs is a valuable dimension of every effort made for our membership.
