Candidate Statements: Treasurer

David Black (unopposed):

My name is Dave Black, General Manager (advisor) and co-founder of WSUM at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.  I am a former treasurer of CBI who left the job in good standing my term expired.  Lisa Marshall and Jamie Lynn Gilbert have done a fantastic job in transitioning from mostly checks and money orders to expanding methods of payment to include credit cards and other more modern forms of payment.  As a long-time member of CBI, I feel a sense of responsibility to serve on the board again and to try to leverage my talents top keep the momentum moving forward and to help the board in any way that I can to achieve our objectives and build on the foundation of excellent service to the CBI community.

As the General Manager at WSUM, I oversee a six-figure budget, work directly with the student government, the UW Foundation (donors) and our Friends of Madison Student Radio 501-c-3 community organization on funding issues including donations, underwriting, sponsorship, and student fee assessments.   It is also my responsibility to insure contracts are approved and enforced, all bills are paid and all accounts receivable are collected.

I would very much appreciate your vote and thank you for your consideration.
