Board Blog: Meet more than 50 pros at #CBISeattle

Jessica Clary, CBI IT Content Director

If you want to meet professionals in the media industry, we’ve got you more than covered at this year’s NSEMC. We’ve got TV anchors, radio station program directors, engineers, podcasters, attorneys, record label representatives and more. A complete list is on our website, and you can also view speakers inside the app, but let’s take a look at some of the highlights.

For starters, this year we’re offering three Pre-Convention workshops, all hosted by industry pros. Sign up and join the MusicMaster Genius Day hosted by Jill Sorensen, MusicMaster’s Support Manager. Plus, special lunchtime guest radio consultant Jaye Albright.

If you want a deep dive into audio editing join two pros for the workshop “Telling the Story Through Sound,” hosted by Hindenburg Systems CEO Chris Mottes and CUNY professor and NPR Newscaster Dale Willman.

For podcasters, and aspiring podcasters, we’ll have Caroline Chamberlain Gomez from KUOW for “Podcasting 101: An Overview of On-Demand Storytelling.” All of these Pre-Convention workshops are open for sign-ups right now on our website.

If you’re a fan of KEXP, we’ve got a few people from their team including Abbie Gobeli, Sharlese Metcalf and Alina Santillan who will join us for panels on diversity, careers and more! Music fans will also want to check out our guests from promoters and record labels like Sub Pop, Votiv, Red Light, The Band Mom and Barsuk Records. Plus, check out our special panel of guests from KNKX, whose listeners saved them from bankruptcy just a couple years ago!

We’ve also got plenty of Seattle broadcasters who host daily morning shows (like Allan and Ashley), call your favorite team (if your favorite team is the Washington Huskies), and have reported on the Pacific Northwest region for their entire careers. We’ve also got a special event with the hosts of the Radio Survivor Podcast, archivists and preservation experts, legal experts, the President of the national Radio Advertising Bureau, engineers and more.

More than fifty pros in broadcasting and media will be at the NSEMC this year. Will you? Early-bird registration ends on Monday, Oct. 1 so register now on our registration page!
