Another License Renewal Fine – $7k

Another station is hit with a fine for late renewal of its license and subsequent unauthorized operation.  WPRX(AM) failed to file its license renewal in application December of 2005 and was fined $7,000 this week by the FCC in this forfeiture order.

With a lot of churn at student FCC licensed stations, it is important that a process is put in place to remind someone to file the application for license renewal and related forms.  Note that in this proceeding, the station failed to file its renewal in December of 2005, but was not notified of the error by the FCC until September of 2010.
