Two Elmhurst College Seniors Set World Record For Radio Show

As Elmhurst College seniors getting ready to graduate in May, Jennifer Anthony and Emma Kaminski wanted to do something big to commemorate their time on campus and as deejays at WRSE, the College radio station. According to the college, they decided to co-host a radio talk show; a Guinness World Record-setting radio talk show.

Student DJs work graveyard shifts to keep college radio alive

“I wouldn’t say this is the same thing as pledging in a fraternity, but it kind of is in a way,” said first-year DJ Aysha Diallo, who works the 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. shift Wednesdays. “Because you have to do shit that no one wants to do, but eventually you can do cooler things — after your first semester you can DJ for events and stuff at Cat’s Cradle.”

Shaw University sells WSHA-FM radio station – and a piece of history

Shaw University’s WSHA-FM, the first public radio station owned by a historically black college — and the go-to station for jazz, blues, reggae and gospel music in the Triangle — has been sold.

Shaw announced the sale in a news release this week as part of a plan to overhaul the school’s Department of Mass Communications.
