Special Award
The CBI Board of Directors presented a Community Impact Award to WKCR at Columbia University based on students’ continuous coverage of a protest that eventually involved a clash with police. WKCR students refused orders to leave their station and continued reporting. Their reports were what fed local, regional, and national media organizations and networks as other outlets were unable to gain access to the campus.
